Working at Special Touch
Most companies in this industry staff their routes with subcontractors. We do not, and never have. Everyone who cleans a Special Touch building is on our payroll, screened and trained by us, and covered by our insurance and bonding.
That matters on both sides of the arrangement. Our customers get the same people in their building week after week. Our technicians get a real job with a real employer rather than a stream of one-off gigs.
We have been family owned and operating across Northwest Ohio for more than 25 years, from three offices in Toledo and Maumee. Most of our work is commercial — offices, schools, medical buildings, plants and apartment communities — and much of it runs after hours.

What the Work Involves
Commercial cleaning is physical, detail-driven work done to a written scope. A typical shift covers a defined list of areas in a customer building — offices, restrooms, break rooms, corridors and floors — and the standard is that the same list gets done to the same level every visit.
Mostly after hours
Most commercial cleaning happens in the evening or overnight, when buildings are empty. Some roles are daytime or weekend.
To a written scope
Every building has a Schedule of Work. You are never guessing what is expected, and the work is documented through an Inspection Report.
Equipment provided
Supplies, chemicals and machines are ours. You are not buying products or hauling your own equipment between sites.
Floor care is a skill
Stripping, waxing and burnishing are specialised work with real technique behind them. Technicians who take to it can build a genuine trade.
Employment FAQs
Are these W-2 positions or contract work?
W-2 employment. Every cleaning technician at Special Touch is a regular employee of the company, never a freelancer or subcontractor.
Do I need previous cleaning experience?
Experience helps, but we train our own people — that is the point of employing them rather than subcontracting. Reliability and attention to detail matter more than a resume in this line of work.
What are the hours?
Most commercial cleaning is done after hours, so evening and overnight shifts are common, with some daytime and weekend work. Specific schedules depend on the buildings on the route. Call 419-871-2005 and we are happy to talk through what is currently available.
Where are the positions located?
Throughout our service area — the Toledo and Maumee area primarily, and across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Routes are generally grouped so you are not driving across the region in a shift.
