Plants, Public Buildings and Front Street
Fremont’s economy has a manufacturing spine — appliance production, battery manufacturing and the supplier businesses that grow around them — sitting alongside a county-seat civic core and the Front Street commercial district by the Sandusky River.
Those are three genuinely different cleaning environments. An industrial building needs a scope written for grit, oil and shift patterns. A public building needs daytime traffic tolerated, after-hours work and a documented trail. A downtown storefront needs its floor and its glass right, and not much else.
Special Touch Commercial Cleaning provides commercial cleaning, janitorial service and floor care for businesses throughout Fremont and Sandusky County. We have been working across Northwest Ohio for more than 25 years, and we scope each building for what it actually is.

Cleaning Fremont’s Three Kinds of Building
Manufacturing and supplier facilities
Plant offices, break rooms, locker rooms and restrooms as a written scope, kept separate from production-floor housekeeping so nobody assumes the other party has it. Sealed concrete gets machine cleaning on a set cycle, because the fine grit it holds is what abrades the surface and migrates forward into finished areas.
For facilities running multiple shifts we schedule around the quietest window rather than a fixed evening slot, and phase by area where the building never fully stops.
County, municipal and institutional
As the Sandusky County seat, Fremont has more public-facing civic space than a town its size would otherwise carry. Those buildings take daytime public traffic on floors that get no quiet hours, which makes entry-zone attention and corridor floor maintenance the two things that matter most.
Documented scope and a clear accountability trail come as standard with us: an Inspection Report on the work performed, a Schedule of Work reviewed periodically, and a monthly Contact Evaluation.
Front Street and the commercial district
Shops, restaurants, offices and practices in the downtown core. Many of these buildings have age and character, which usually means original hard floors underneath whatever is on top of them.
Restoring an original floor is very often cheaper than covering it and it looks considerably better. We will tell you honestly what is recoverable before you spend anything on it.
Why Corridor Floors Fail Before the Rest
The most common floor problem we are called about in county buildings, schools and plants is the same one: the floor looks fine in the middle of the room and worn out down the middle of the corridor.
That happens because traffic concentrates. A corridor carries every person and every cart in the building through a strip a few feet wide, so the finish there does several years of wear in one. Meanwhile the perimeter and the room interiors barely age at all.
The practical consequence is that whole-floor thinking wastes money in both directions. Strip the entire building when only the lanes have failed and you are paying to rebuild finish that was fine. Wait for the whole floor to look bad and the lanes will have worn through to bare tile, at which point finish will not bring them back.
We assess by wear pattern and recommend accordingly — often a scrub and recoat on the traffic areas and a longer cycle everywhere else.

Is Fremont within your service area?
Yes. Sandusky County is on the eastern side of our range, reached along State Route 20 and US-6, and we work Fremont and the surrounding communities. Periodic floor care travels easily because it is scheduled project work rather than a nightly route. For recurring janitorial service, call and tell us the building and frequency — we will give you a straight answer rather than overcommitting.
Can you meet plant contractor requirements?
Our technicians are screened before they work in customer buildings, and we are fully insured and bonded. Contractor orientation, insurance certificates, badging, sign-in and PPE requirements are routine on industrial sites in this region and we work within whatever your facility requires.
Our corridor floors are worn but the rooms are fine. What do we do?
That is the normal pattern, and the answer is usually a scrub and recoat on the traffic areas rather than a full strip of the whole building. It costs considerably less and takes less time. If the finish has worn through to bare tile in the lanes, a full strip on those areas is the honest recommendation and we will say so.
Can you do one-time projects without an ongoing contract?
Yes. A single strip and wax, a summer school project, a first machine clean on neglected concrete or a deep clean before a building changes hands are all normal standalone jobs for us.
When should school floor work be scheduled?
Summer break, and booked in spring. Warm, dry and empty is exactly what finish needs to cure properly, and phasing floor work around an occupied school costs more and delivers less. The summer calendar fills quickly across the region.
